Alex Kantrowitz is an American journalist, commentator, and podcaster focused on covering technology and Silicon Valley. He is also the author of Always Day One.[1]

Life and career

After graduating from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Kantrowitz briefly entered politics, working for Elizabeth Crowley and then managing Mike Miller's successful campaign for the New York State Assembly.[1] In 2012, Kantrowitz became a journalist, starting his career at Forbes, where he covered media and technology, before moving to Ad Age.[2] From 2015 to 2020, Kantrowitz worked at BuzzFeed News, covering major tech companies.[3] While at BuzzFeed, Kantrowitz won a Mirror Award for his coverage of Facebook.[4] Since 2020, Kantrowitz also regularly appears as a commentator on CNBC.[5]

Kantrowitz launched his Substack newsletter and podcast Big Technology in 2020, where he reports and comments on major technology companies.[6] His podcast is known for his interviews with executives and leaders at prominent Big Tech companies, including Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, and Dario Amodei. As of June 2025, Big Technology had over 160,000 subscribers.
