Mark Zuckerberg Mark Zuckerberg is a name that needs no introduction. He is the co-founder and CEO of Facebook, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. Born on May 14, 1984, in New York, Zuckerberg was raised in a Jewish family and had a passion for computers from an early age. Zuckerberg's interest in computers started when he was just a child. His father, Edward Zuckerberg, was a dentist who also had a passion for computers. He taught his son how to program using Atari BASIC when he was just 12 years old. By the time he was in high school, Zuckerberg had already created several computer programs, including a music player that used artificial intelligence to learn users' preferences. After graduating from high school, Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard University to study computer science and psychology. It was during his time at Harvard that he created Facebook with his roommates Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes. The social media platform was initially created as a way for Harvard students to connect with each other, but it quickly grew in popularity and expanded to other universities and eventually the general public. In 2004, Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to focus on Facebook full-time. The platform continued to grow in popularity, and by 2007, it had over 50 million users. In 2012, Facebook went public with an initial public offering (IPO) that valued the company at $104 billion. Despite his success, Zuckerberg has faced criticism for his handling of user data and privacy concerns. In 2018, it was revealed that Cambridge Analytica had obtained data from millions of Facebook users without their consent. Zuckerberg testified before Congress about the issue and promised to do better. In addition to his work at Facebook, Zuckerberg has also been involved in philanthropic efforts. He and his wife Priscilla Chan have pledged to donate 99% of their Facebook shares to charity over the course of their lives. Today, Zuckerberg is one of the wealthiest people in the world, with a net worth of over $100 billion. He continues to lead Facebook and has ambitious plans for the future, including expanding the company's reach into virtual and augmented reality. Despite the challenges he has faced, Zuckerberg remains a visionary leader who has transformed the way we connect and communicate with each other.
