Alexander Karnal is an American businessman, a partner and managing director at Deerfield Management Company, since 2005.[1][2]
During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was appointed by Governor Ned Lamont[3] to the "Reopen Connecticut Advisory Group",[4] charged with advising on how to reopen the state’s economy, community and education systems.[5][6]

Alexander Karnal earned a bachelor's degree in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology[7] and M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University.[8]

Alexander Karnal is a partner and managing director at Deerfield Management Company which is a biotech investment firm based in New York.[9] He also serves on the Boards of the New York Academy of Medicine,[10] Biotechnology Innovation Organization,[11] Recovery Centers of America[12] and Discovery Labs.[13] In 2020 he was listed in “The top 20 under 40: Inside the next generation of biopharma leaders" by Endpoints News.[14] He is also a co-founder, CEO and board chairman of The Institute for Life Changing Medicines.[15]
