Aline Cumming is a co-editor of BCS Glossary of Computing and ICT – 13th edition and a former Executive Officer of the Conference of Professors and Heads of Computing [CPHC]; which [in 1993–94] evolved from the Conference of Professors of Computer Science [CPCS] and the Committee of Heads of Computing in the Polytechnics [CHCP] – becoming [in 2003] Council of Professors and Heads of Computing [CPHC] http://cphc.ac.uk

The BCS Glossary describes it like "authoritative and comprehensive work of its kind on the market today. This study aid and reference tool has newly updated entries and is divided into themed sections making it more than just a list of definitions. Written in a style that is easily accessible to anybody with an interest in computing, it is specifically designed to support those taking computer courses or courses where computers are used, including GCSE, A-Level, ECDL and 14–19 Diplomas in Functional Skills in schools and further education colleges”.

Formerly she taught mathematics and computing at secondary school, also working in data processing as a computer operator and programmer. After that she started working on the head of the Education Department at British Computer Society and then moved as a consultant in IT and education.
