Alireza Jazayeri [1](Persian: Alirezā Jazayeri -‎علیرضا جزایری ; JJ; born October 20, 1985), better known by his stage name Alireza JJ, is an Iranian rapper, producer, and film director. He was born in Tehran, Iran, and moved to France as a teenager. He gained fame with joining Zedbazi, one of the most popular Persian Hiphop bands.[2] Alireza JJ has been part of three studio albums, one of them being Zedbazi's first studio album, in which he served as music producer alongside Mehrad Hidden. [3][4] He currently works with band members Sijal and Nassim, following the band's breakup in 2014.

Early life[edit]

Alireza JJ was born in 1985 in Tehran, Iran. He moved to Paris, France in 2003 when he was 18 years old. Alireza has Been producing music since 2000.[5] He was a close friend of Siavash Sijal in Paris, where they would meet Nassim Parizeh later.

Musical career[edit]

Early Years[edit]

Alireza JJ started his Musical career with Sijal, his best friend in Paris. They produced a few unofficial singles which were never released. "Man Chetam" was the first Single released by Sijal and produced by JJ before they joined Zedbazi. They met Nassim Parize in Paris' subway because they needed directions, and they became friends. Alireza JJ and Sijal realized that Nassim was a singer, so they asked her to work with them on their songs.[2][6]

Zedbazi[edit]

In 2005 Alireza produced Zedbazi's single "Berim Faza" featuring Sijal, which was his first collaboration with Zedbazi.[2] In 2007 he produced "Tabestoon Kootahe" featuring himself, Sijal and Nassim, and later it became one of the most famous Persian rap songs, gaining over 2 Million views on YouTube. Alireza JJ and Zedbazi were the first group in Iran that used explicit language about sex and drugs.[2][7] Almost after "Tabestoon Kootahe" was released, Alireza JJ, Sijal, and Nassim Joined Zedbazi officially. In 2012 Zedbazi released their first album called "Zakhar Nameh", and four tracks out of ten was produced by Alireza JJ. Alireza has produced a total of 8 singles and mixed most of them for Zedbazi besides the album.[8] On January 10, 2014 Zedbazi released the "Zedbazi Documentary" directed by Ardeshir Ahmadi on RadioJavan. The documentary was about the group's creation until present, and Ardeshir asked questions from Jazayeri and 4 other members of the group.[2] In August 2014 JJ released "Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na" album with two other members of Zedbazi, Sijal and Nassim without Zedbazi's label.[4]

2013–14: Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na[edit]

In 2013, Alireza JJ announced his second studio album, "Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na", with Sijal and Nassim. The first single, "Pesare Bad", was released on April 2, 2014 featuring Cornella and Sohrab MJ on RadioJavan's label. Second Single, "Tehran Maserati (+3:30)" was released on July 12, 2014 featuring Behzad Leito, and finally, the album was released two weeks later on July 28, 2014. Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na reached the top charts on RadioJavan's website and became the most played hip-hop album of all time. On the "RadioJavan's top 100" list, the track "Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na" has reached number eleven and "Tehran Maserati (+3:30)" number twelve. The music video "Tehran Maserati (+3:30)" has also peaked at number two on the top 100 videos chart and number three on the most popular videos of all time on RadioJavan.[9] Also on "the top Songs of 1393" on RadioJavan, "Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na" has hit number seven, and behind that "Tehran Maserati (+3:30)" peaked at number eight. There are two more songs from this album from the top fifty songs.[10]

Zedbazi Separation[edit]

Zedbazi decided to work separately in two groups on October 1, 2014 because of internal problems.[11] After disagreements with Saman Wilson, the member who created Zedbazi with Mehrad Hidden and was returning to the group after 8 years of absence, Alireza joined Sijal and Nassim, while Saman decided to continue his music career with Mehrad Hidden. According to Alireza JJ's #7 podcast on his website, Zedbazi will work separately and will not release any songs with their label unless they solve their issues.[12]

2015–2016: Yadegari[edit]

After more than a year, Sepehr Khalse's long-awaited first LP called Yadegari will be released on the 27th of February from Radio Javan! Since co-producing albums such as Zedbazi's Zakhar Nameh and producing Khakestari (from Behzad Leito) & Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na, JJ has been working on Sepehr Khalse's first LP called Yadegari. The first single of the album was "Siah Mese Barf" & the second is called "Sayeha" featuring Sijal, Nassim & Magico and it was released in on Tuesday, February 23. Yadegari was released on February 27, 2016 and includes frequent collaborators such as Alireza JJ, Sijal, Behzad Leito, Nassim, AFX, Siavash Rad, Magico, and Alex Asli. [13]

2016: Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na Vol. 2[edit]

After releasing Yadegari, Alireza JJ, Sijal, and Nassim decided to release their second studio album together. This album was the second volume of their first studio album, Pir Shodim Valii Bozorg Na. The first single of this album, "Vitamine 30", was released on December 16, 2015. [14] The song featured Sohrab MJ, one of the members of Zedbazi, Sijal, and Behzad Leito. After a few weeks, Alireza JJ and Sijal decided to release a second single, called "Ki Khoobe Ki Bad", on January 7, 2016. The song contained a music video which came out on January 11.[15] The official release date of the album was set to be September 23, 2016. Two days before the album, "Ghable Ejra", the third single was released featuring Sijal, Sohrab MJ,and Behzad Leito. Finally on September 23, Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na Vol. 2 was released on RadioJavan. The album contained 16 tracks including the 3 singles, and it featured Sohrab MJ, The Wantons, Siavash Rad, Behzad Leito, and Sepehr Khalse. Alireza JJ, Siavash Rad, Behzad Leito, Sami Low, AFX, and Khashar SR worked as the main producers of Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na Vol. 2. The album's main theme contained "passing time and getting older", and the main styles include a mixture of mainstream Hip-hop and Pop. The song "Sahme Mani" is dedicated to Sijal's engagement with his long time girlfriend, Nazanin.[16] In less than three months, Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na Vol. 2 became the most played Hip-Hop album of all time on RadioJavan with more than 72 million streams. 2017: Yeksin[edit]

In March of 2017, Sohrab MJ and Alireza JJ announced that they will be working on MJ's latest solo EP album called Yeksin. Yeksin's first single named "Leila" featuring Behzad Leito and JJ himself was released on May 8. After a few months, Yeksin was released on September 20, 2017. The album contained five tracks, and it included Behzad Leito and All Zedbazi members except Saman Wilson as guest artists. Alireza JJ produced four songs and Khashayar SR from Tik Taak produced the track "Ma" which featured Mehrad Hidden. The album signified the impact of Zedbazi and MJ on the Persian hip hop, and it included lines against rappers who dissed Sohrab MJ beforehand. [18]

Film career[edit]

Alireza JJ has a Master's degree of Arts, Global Communications, Film Studies from The American University of Paris. In 2010 he directed and edited the Zedbazi's first behind the scenes footage.[8] He also directed Behzad Leito's first music video "Doostam Hastan".[19]

Musical Style[edit]

Alireza JJ "is probably the most controversial member of Zedbazi. He often takes shots at other artists and sometimes even his own fans. His flow is often slower than the other members, but he makes up for it by having controversial and politically-charged lyrics." Alireza has rapped about a lot of different subjects, and he always has a new idea. He is famous for his puns and word plays in his songs.[20]

The discography of the Persian rapper and producer Alireza Jazayeri consists of two studio albums, thirty singles and a total of forty-four productions and co-productions.[3][4][6][21][22] His album "Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na" released on the label RadioJavan was the most played hip hop album of all time on RadioJavan's Website. His song "Pir Shodim Vali Bozorg Na" from that album peaked at number eleven on the top 100 of 2014 on RadioJavan's website.
