Altertable is a French artificial intelligence startup that develops an AI-native data platform. Based in the Paris metropolitan area, the company builds a unified data lakehouse platform that integrates data warehousing, analytics, and monitoring into a single system. Altertable was incorporated in 2025 and publicly emerged from stealth mode in June 2025 following a seed funding round led by the venture capital firm 20VC.[1]
History
Altertable was founded in 2025 in the Paris area by Sylvain Utard, Kevin Granger, and Yannick Utard. The company was incorporated on 30 April 2025 and registered in Nanterre.[2] The founding team previously worked at technology companies including Exalead, Algolia, Front, and Sorare. Sylvain Utard was the first employee at Algolia and later served as Head of Engineering at Sorare. Kevin Granger was among the early engineers at Algolia. Yannick Utard worked as a software and site reliability engineer at Sorare and Front.[3]
The company operated in stealth mode during its initial development phase. On 25 June 2025, Altertable publicly launched and announced a €2.5 million seed funding round. The round was led by 20VC, with participation from Drysdale Ventures and Kima Ventures, as well as several angel investors from the European technology sector, including Olivier Pomel (Datadog), Romain Niccoli (Pigment), Nicolas Dessaigne (Algolia) and Nicolas Julia (Sorare).[4]
According to contemporary reporting, Altertable was founded to address the growing complexity and fragmentation of modern data infrastructure, particularly the separation between product analytics and enterprise data analysis systems.[5]
Product
Altertable develops a software as a service (SaaS) data platform that combines data warehousing, product analytics, and data analysis into a unified environment.[6]
The platform uses automated analytical systems designed to continuously ingest and analyze data. These systems are intended to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies without requiring users to manually construct queries for each analysis. The product is positioned as an alternative to maintaining multiple specialized analytics tools.[citation needed]
Technology
Altertable's platform is designed as AI-native from inception, meaning artificial intelligence is integrated into all layers of the system rather than added as a feature. The platform is built on a data lakehouse-style architecture and incorporates analytical database technologies designed for high-performance querying. The system supports integrations with external databases and data warehouses, enabling federated queries across multiple data sources.[citation needed]
Machine learning and large language models are used to assist with data modeling, analysis, and monitoring, operating continuously alongside human users rather than on a purely request-driven basis.[7]
Funding
In June 2025, Altertable raised €2.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by 20VC, the venture capital firm founded by Harry Stebbings, with participation from Drysdale Ventures and Kima Ventures, as well as several angel investors from the European technology sector, including Olivier Pomel (Datadog), Romain Niccoli (Pigment), Nicolas Dessaigne (Algolia) and Nicolas Julia (Sorare).[8]
