Amara Raja Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Tirupati. The group operates in various sectors including automotive battery business, packaged foods, electronics manufacturing, infrastructure, power systems, and sheet metal fabrication. It is renowned for its automotive battery brand Amaron, the second largest selling automotive battery brand in India after Exide Industries.

History[edit]

The Amara Raja Group was founded in 1985 by Ramachandra Naidu Galla. The company started its automotive batteries business in 2001 through a joint venture with Johnson Controls, introducing zero maintenance technology in India's automotive battery segment. The group is named after Jayadev's grandparents, Amaravati and Rajagopal Naidu.
