Ambassador is an American company and social referral marketing platform which enables companies to create, track, and manage customer referrals.[2][3]
Overview[edit]
Jeff Epstein founded Ambassador as Zferral in 2009. The company was one of twelve companies selected from a pool of 1,200 applicants to be part of the New York City program of American startup accelerator Techstars in 2011.[4]
Jonathon Triest of Detroit-based Ludlow Ventures was the first investor in the initial $400,000 seed round.[5]
In January 2011, Zferral bought SaaS web app store Cloudomatic for cash and equity.[6] In June 2015, Ambassador announced that it had raised $2.35 million in Series A funding. The Series A was led by Arthur Ventures, with additional investment from Zelkova Ventures, Ludlow Ventures, Social Starts and Matchstick Ventures.[7]
Companies that use Ambassador's referral platform include PayPal, Spotify, HughesNet, Progresso, Reliant Energy and the American Marketing Association.[5]
