Ideology

The America First Caucus is a congressional caucus consisting of conservative[1] Republican members of the United States House of Representatives. It was founded in April 2021 by Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar[2] to be a group that follows "in President Trump’s footsteps".

However, due to harsh responses from the media and the House GOP, the organization's formation has been described as temporarily frozen.[3]

Reactions[edit]

Congressman Matt Gaetz said that he will join the group, saying that "We will end wars, stop illegal immigration & promote trade that is fair to American workers,”[4]

Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert has expressed interest in joining the organization as well.[4]

Alabama Representative, Barry Moore has also expressed an interest in joining.[5]

Illinois Representative, Adam Kinzinger called representatives who join to be stripped of their committees.[6]

The formation of the group was condemned by fellow Freedom Caucus member, Ken Buck.[7]

Utah Representative, Burgess Owens, who is one of two African American Republicans in the House declined to join.[8]
