History[edit]
American First was originally founded in 1952 as a credit union for grocery store workers. In the early 2000s, American First expanded its common bond charter and now offers personal and small business banking solutions from its three branches in Fullerton, CA, Buena Park, CA and Orange, CA with a fourth branch expected to open in Eastvale, CA in the near future.
In 2019, American First was named one of the "Absolute Best Bank Accounts for Small Businesses" in Architectural Digest. The article listed low monthly balance minimums and service charges amongst the reasons for making the list.[3] American First was also a runner-up as "Best Local Credit Union" in the Daily Pilot's "Orange County's Best - Readers' Choice 2019".
