Amir Yazdanshenas born Jan 20, 1980, also known as Dr. Yazdan, is a cosmetic surgeon, author, and television personality.

Early life[edit]

Amir Yazdanshenas was born in Tehran, Iran, and emigrated to the United States at Age 1.

In 2006 he obtained his MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He went on to finish his residency training at Kaiser Permanente an Affiliate of University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. From there, he specialized in Facial Cosmetic Surgical Procedures and Hair Restoration Surgery in both men and women

Career[edit]

Dr. Yazdan has been a professor at the Modena Institute of Cosmetic & Hair Restoration Surgery since 2011. His research interests include Hair Replacement Surgery, Hair Transplant Surgery, Minimally Invasive Hair restoration Surgery, and Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He also works with TV shows and production companies as a Medical Consultant.

In 2012, he created his own minimally invasive, minimally scarring technique and surgical tools for Micro Follicular Extraction in Hair Restoration procedures. This technique has been presented at multiple Hair Restoration conferences and seminars. He has also developed a unique tumescent solution used during Hair Restoration Surgery which negates the need for patients to be treated with strong antibiotics and minimizes any swelling associated with the hair restoration procedure. The tumescent solution also minimizes "shock loss" which can lead to increased hair loss for a short period after a hair replacement surgery.

He is also one of the first Hair Restoration Surgeons in the United States to incorporate PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Stem cell therapy in conjunction with his Hair Transplant surgeries. PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy is an advanced autologous stem cell therapy procedure which helps with wound healing, graft growth, and decreases the visibility of scars after the procedure. Dr. Yazdan presented this on The Doctor's TV show in Feb 2014.[1]

Dr. Yazdan is also famous for his metal fabrication and custom metal work. He has built over 20 custom motorcycles and specialty offroad vehicles, some of which were auctioned off to charity with proceeds going to St. Jude Children's hospital. He holds a patent for an at home powdercoating system for do it yourself builders and was featured in multiple magazines including Hot Bikes.[2]

Dr. Yazdan has appeared as a Hair & Skin expert on The Doctors for 2 seasons.[3] On the show he addressed issues like Hair Loss and recent trends in hair restoration surgery, skin conditions, and life-threatening emergencies such as asthma attacks.
