Amit Bagaria is Founder Chairman of Asipac Group in Bangalore, India. Asipac is one of the India’s leading shopping centre planning, development & leasing consultants and mall managers, which has conceived, created and marketed seven of 15 largest malls in India. Asipac has also provided consultancy services to several other real estate projects, and is currently engaged as strategy consultants, marketing advisors and sole leasing/selling agents on projects of greater than 8.2 million square feet. Mr. Bagaria is a Real Estate/mall development & marketing consultant. His past engagements are CEO at Asian Health Services Pvt Ltd, CEO at Arus Travels - Modiluft GSA, Founder CEO at Gainwell Travels, Director Projects & IT at Buildwell India Pvt. Ltd.[1]

Early life[edit]

Mr. Bagaria hails from business family with interests in Retail (since 1938), Manufacturing (1949), Pharma & Biotech (1979), Industrial Gases (1974), Construction (1961), Real Estate (1974) and Warehousing (1986). During university education in USA, he received the coveted National Collegiate Government Award and was nominated to the Who’s Who in American Colleges & Universities. Amit started his career with The New York Times and Hallmark Cards.[2]

Career in India[edit]

On returning to India, he spent 4 years in family business, then ventured on his own in 1992. Up to 1996, he was in the business of Travel Services and Medical Equipment/Appliances. In 1996, he set up a 50:50 JV with an American Fortune 500 corporation, to provide healthcare consulting and hospital planning/design. The JV did projects of over Rs. 20 Billion for Tatas, Reliance, Aditya Birla, ILFS, Sahara, Escorts, Max & Wockhardt, partnered with RTKL and NBBJ on 11 projects during which he went through formal and practical training on urban project planning and facility planning, and with McKinsey, Ernst & Young Global and Arthur Anderson on several assignments. From 2003 onwards, he has been transforming the company to expand its variety of projects and basket of services. Amit was a Member of the CII National Committee on Health and an invitee speaker at leading B-schools, Retail Forums, Fashion Forums, CREDAI National Convention, Hotel Investment Conference South Asia (HICSA). He has co-authored a bestseller book on Hospital Planning, and has written several articles in Indian Express, Images Retail and Images Mall Yearbook. Featured in Asian Health (HK), Retail World (UK), Business Today, Businessworld (including 3 cover stories), Times Journal of Construction, Chartered Financial Analyst, and all leading Indian newspapers, including 8 times on front pages; Doordarshan, BBC, CNBC, NDTV, Star TV and Zoom TV.[2]

He realized that cosmetics made for men were just not available in India and that most of the cosmetics giants just re-label women’s products as pour homme (for men). Thus, he went into further research and discovered that there were many companies around the world that make cosmetics especially for men’s skin. Thus, he came up with Menandboys,[3] India's first retail chain for skincare, hair care, cosmetics, shaving essentials and grooming products made especially for men, from 20 brands from USA, UK, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France and Switzerland.[4][5]
