Amitabh Bachchan Falls
Amitabh Bachchan Falls (Real name is Bhew-ma Falls meaning Bhew - Snake, Mar - Red Falls as per local folk tales and history of Lachung Dzomsa, North Sikkim) lies on the road connecting Chungthang to Yumthang Valley in Lachung, North Sikkim district of Sikkim. It is believed that the Indian tourist misinterpreted the names as (Bhima Falls) Amitabh Bachchan Falls from the Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, who is very tall.[1]
(please note that changing and tagging the places names of our places and tagging to some superstars will hurt sentiments of the local people residing in the area)
It is one of the tallest waterfalls shown to tourists by local tour operators and cab-drivers-cum-guides. Like most other waterfalls in Sikkim, there is much confusion with pictures shown by a random Google search.
