Amna Al-Rumaili Al-Waslati (Arabic: آمنة الرميلي الوسلاتي) is a Tunisian novelist and researcher. She holds the position of professor of Literature and Criticism at the College of Art and Human Sciences in Sousse University. Her works ranges from short story collections to novels and academic research. In 2016, her novel “Toujane” received the Golden Comar Award in the Arabic Novel Category.

In addition to her academic research, Al-Rumaili work ranges from short stories collections to novels. Her writing leans toward narration and academic research, and influenced by ideology and politics.

November 2020 Attack[edit]

In late November 2020, a group of anonymous extremists attacked Amna Al-Rumaili’s house in Sfax. The attackers stole some of her belongings and burned them[3]. The attack was attributed to takfiri groups that objects to the author’s opinions and her bold stand regarding the freedom of speech, change, and women liberation. The attack was condemned among Tunisian and Arab intellectuals.[4]
