Ananya Anand (born 6 July 2001) is an Indian karate black belt holder and sport shooter with many wins.[1][2][3][4][5] She is the first player from her state honored with ‘Bihar Khel Samman’ for six consecutive years,[6][7] and the first from Bihar to win a gold medal.[8]
Early Life
Ananya was born in Aiyara, a village of western Bihar in the district of Arwal.[9][10] She comes from a family of marginal farmers. Her father, Onkar Sharan, a civil engineer, dedicated himself to her sports after leaving his job. After becoming a champion in karate,[11][12] she chose Amit Sheoran as her coach in shooting sports. In 2021 she joined the Aryangateways Sports Foundation. She wants to maintain the legacy of the foundation’s Olympic shooters Deepender Singh and Arjun awardee Saurabh Chaudhary as well as international Indian shooter National Games gold medalist Yuvika Tomar.
