Andrew Bednar is an American finance executive.[1] He joined Perella Weinberg Partners as a partner in New York in 2006, when the firm was founded. The firm provides M&A advisory and alternative asset management services. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners, he served as head of US M&A at Bank of America, and previously spent seven years at Goldman Sachs as a managing director and senior M&A professional.[2][3]

Bednar received a Bachelor of Science and a master's degree in business administration from Cornell University, and also received a Juris Doctor from Columbia University.[3]

Business career[edit]

Bednar is a partner at M&A advisory and alternative asset management services firm Perella Weinberg Partners, in New York.[4][5][6] Since joining the firm when it was founded in 2006, he has advised on a number of mergers and acquisitions, including multiple stock exchanges on mergers. Notably, he advised Deutsche Börse Group on its proposed merger with the London Stock Exchange and on the sale of International Securities Exchange to NASDAQ; and NYSE on its sale to Intercontinental Exchange and on its announced merger with Deutsche Boerse, as well as on takeover defense of an unsolicited joint bid from NASDAQ and Intercontinental Exchange.[1][7][8][9][10][11]

Bednar has been an advisor in sales of retail consumer brands, and also has advised clients in industries, including Transportation, Healthcare, and Technology, including OMI Corporation on exploring strategic alternatives, which ultimately led to its sale to Teekay & Torm, and Norwegian Cruise Line on its $3 billion acquisition of Prestige Cruises.[12][13]

Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners, Bednar was head of U.S. Mergers & Acquisitions at Bank of America. Previously, Bednar was a managing director and senior M&A professional at Goldman Sachs. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Bednar was an M&A professional with Salomon Brothers, and began his career as an attorney with Cravath, Swaine & Moore.[2]

Previously, Bednar launched a food business called "New York Bagels" in Budapest, Hungary, with two business partners. The first shop opened in 1993.[14][15][16]

Bank of America[edit]

As Head of US M&A at Bank of America, Bednar was responsible for new business development, transaction execution, product policies, and management of personnel. Additionally, he was a member of the Global Investment Banking Leadership Team and the Fairness Review Committee.[3][17]

Goldman Sachs[edit]

During his tenure with Goldman Sachs, Bednar led the execution of several M&A transactions across a broad range of industries, including energy, technology and real estate.[3]
