Anne Rue
Anne Rue is a celebrity interior designer, owner and principle designer of Anne Rue Interiors based in Lake Mary, Florida. Rue is most notably recognized as the "red haired" fan favorite, design contestant from season eight of HGTV Design Star[1] before she was eliminated in the seventh round of the competition[2] In addition, Rue has been awarded the prestigious “Best in American Living Award” for the Mirasol project at Celebration, Fla.,[3] voted "Best Interior Designer" by Orlando Magazine in 2013,[4] "Best Designer" in 2007,[5] and "Top Designer" in 2006,[6] and was voted "Top Design Firm" by Orlando Business Journal in 2005.[7]
Life and career[edit]
Rue's interest in interior design grew out of her love of fashion, a passion she learned and shared from her grandmother in Pittsfield, Illinois from the age of eight. After high school, Rue followed her passion to pursue a career in fashion. She enrolled in The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design.[8]
Drawn to interior design, Rue decided to augment her fashion background with formal education in that discipline. While pursuing interior design Seminole State College of Florida, she worked as a sales associate at JC Penny in the Window Treatment Department. There, she learned how to make drapes and perfect the art of closing a sale.
After graduating, Rue began her career designing luxury tour buses and yachts. She designed the NASCAR Corp Tour Bus, Mark Martin's personal RV Tour Bus, and was the interior designer of Regal Boats, "Luxury Yachts."
Rue was also the Central Florida Custom Home Builder Interior Designer for PGA tour professionals; Chris DiMarco,[9] Sergio García, Zach Johnson and LPGA Si Ri Pak.
HGTV Design Star[edit]
An avid fan of HGTV Design Star, Rue consistently watched every season. When she learned HGTV was holding a live casting call for season seven in Miami, a mere 300 miles from her design firm in Lake Mary, Florida she drove to the event. Rue was not selected for that season, but was later cast for season eight in the following year.[10]
Anne Rue Interiors[edit]
Rue has an extensive 15 year career in interior design and has successfully managed her own firm for 12 years. She offers interior design services for residential homes, multi-family or by-the-room, assisted living facilities, and country clubs. As a designer, Rue likes to incorporate wallpaper and coastal elements into her room scenes.
