Artefact Heritage Services (Artefact) is an archaeology and heritage consulting company based in Sydney, Australia. Its consultants offer heritage assessment, archaeological fieldwork, historical research, heritage interpretation and technical advice. Artefact's client base includes local and state government bodies, infrastructure and development firms, architectural practices and private property owners.

Artefact operates throughout New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.[1] The company employs in-house teams of archaeologists, and Artefact regularly undertakes extensive survey, excavation and salvage fieldwork. Major archaeological and cultural heritage projects have included road and rail corridors, greenfields developments, complex urban sites and heritage-listed properties such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge.[2]

Having previous experience with local Aboriginal stakeholders, the company's Managing Director, Dr Sandra Wallace, served on the New South Wales Aboriginal Culture and Heritage Reform Working Party.[3] Among Artefact's notable consulting archaeology projects is the excavation of the former Devonshire Street Cemeteries underneath Sydney's Central Railway Station.[4] Oral histories and community participation were central to heritage interpretation for the former Newcastle and Suburban Co-operative Society, known locally as ‘The Store’.[5]
