Arvin Joaquin is a Filipino-Canadian journalist and host of OMNI News Filipino.[1]. He was awarded the 2021 Excellence in HIV/AIDS Coverage Award by the NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists for his international reporting on the second wave of HIV epidemic in the Philippines[2].
He was previously an associate editor at Xtra Magazine and immigration reporter at The Canadian Press[3][4]. His newsletter Xtra Weekly[5] received the 2020 Digital Publishing Award for best editorial newsletter in Canada[6].
He was originally from the Philippines and moved to Canada as a teenager[7]
