Asadulla Pasha (اسد اللہ پاشا; born August 16, 1947) is a prominent lawyer, passionate [golfer]],[1] social worker, and philanthropist from Hyderabad, India. He comes from a family of eminent lawyers who served as legal advisors to Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III and three generations of Nizam of Hyderabad. He is Captain at Hyderabad Golf Club and Director of Nasr Education Society that runs Nasr School.[2][3]
Early life & family[edit]
Asadulla Pasha is the eldest son of Anwarulla Pasha. His mother belonged to the Qiledar (custodians) family of Golconda Fort, and she was the great grand daughter of Sir Afsar-ul-Mulk. His father was an eminent lawyer and the grandson of Sir Ameen Jung Bahadur. His father served as legal advisor to 7th and 8th Nizam of Hyderabad, and Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, and reportedly played vital role in the formation of Salar Jung Museum. Asadulla Pasha possesses a sword which Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III gifted to his father Anwarulla Pasha. He has three more siblings i.e. two brothers, and a sister who is the wife of Justice (retired) M.H.S. Ansari of Andhra Pradesh and Calcutta High Courts.
Education[edit]
Pasha did his schooling from British established St. George's Grammar School (Hyderabad) in Abids, Hyderabad. After schooling, Pasha went to Bhopal to pursue graduation in law [LLB] and Master's degree in Economics from Bhopal University, which was later renamed to Barkatullah University. He also did a diploma course in economics from Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi.
Legal career[edit]
Asadulla Pasha started his legal career at the Supreme Court in 1972 under the guidance of S. T. Desai, who was the first chief justice of Gujarat High Court. He also associated with former advocate general of Andhra Pradesh High Court P. Ramachandra Reddy as well as JB Dadachandji of JB Dadachanji & Company Advocates, New Delhi.
Mr. Pasha heads family law firm Pasha & Company Advocates, which was established by his father Anwarulla Pasha in 1965. They were legal advisor to Vazir Sultan Tobacco Company a.k.a VST Industries, State Trading Corp. of India Ltd., Andhra Pradesh Film Finance Corp., ITC (company), Nagarjuna Fertilizers, Coromandel Fertilizers a.k.a Coromandel International, etc. He also assisted his father in settling Nizam of Hyderabad wealth tax cases.
Golf career[edit]
Mr. Pasha has been a passionate golfer since his young age, and won numerous golf tournaments. His notable golf cups are: Charminar Cup awarded by Bison Golf Club in 1983, Single Club awarded by Bison Golf Club in 1983, Inaugural Medal Round awarded by Bison Golf Club in 1983, and Regal Shield. Currently, he is Captain at Hyderabad Golf Club. He is one of senior members of South India Golfing Addicts Society, and the Hyderabad chapter's trophy is named after his father Anwarulla Pasha.
Social life[edit]
Mr. Pasha is as active in his social life as he is in sports and law. At the young age of 29, he was elected Vice President of Lions Club, Banjara Hills. When elected, he was the youngest committee member of Secunderabad Club. Later, he was elected vice president and president of Secunderabad Club. He is also founder member of Hyderabad Golf Club. In addition, he serves on the legal sub-committee of Hyderabad Golf Club.[4] He was also the treasurer of AP Riding Club (Closed), Hyderabad.
Philanthropy/Charity[edit]
Mr. Pasha runs an education trust named Pasha Educational Trust,[5] which he stated in 2000 to offer affordable quality education. Under this trust, he established vocational training institute for insurance agents, a school, an inter [10+2] college, a B.Ed college, a degree college, and a PG college. Through his vocational training institute, he trained insurance agents of MNCs on IELTS English courses, management skills, personality development, public speaking, etc. Later on, he was elected president of All India Insurance Training Institutes' Association (ITIA). He also trained TV artists on various skills required in the field.
