Ash Palmisciano
Ash Palmisciano (born circa 1991[when?]) is a UK-based actor currently playing Matty Barton in Emmerdale. Matty Barton is the first transgender character to appear in the soap. He has also appeared in King Lear (2016) with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Ash's other TV appearances include BBC2's Boy Meets Girl. Alongside acting Ash has collaborated with Channel 4's Random Acts to create the short film 'The Lady That Dances' which will air in August 2018.[1] In 2018 Ash was nominated for an Inside Soap Award for Best Newcomer [2]
An advocate for trans representation, Ash volunteers and has worked with Gendered Intelligence. He also works with Diversity Role Models and the Being Me Campaign and continues to work with All About Trans, run by the charity Road Media.
