Ash Palmisciano
text Ash Palmisciano (born circa 1991) is a UK-based actor known for playing Matty Barton in Emmerdale, the first transgender character in the soap. He also appeared in King Lear with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2016 and in the BBC2 series Boy Meets Girl.
Alongside acting, Ash collaborated with Channel 4's Random Acts to create the short film 'The Lady That Dances', which aired in August 2018.[1] In 2018, he was nominated for an Inside Soap Award for Best Newcomer.[2]
Ash is also an advocate for trans representation and has volunteered with Gendered Intelligence. He works with Diversity Role Models, the Being Me Campaign, and All About Trans, run by the charity Road Media.
