Ashraf Salih Mohamed Sayed (lang-ar|أشرف صالح محمد سيد) is an Egyptian historian and academic specializing in medieval Islamic and European history. He is a Professor of Medieval History and Heritage at Ibn Rushd University in the Netherlands and the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Kan Historical Journal,[1] an open-access Arabic academic journal focused on history and civilization.[2]

Biography

Sayed studied at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. His academic work focuses on the Islamic Middle Ages, the Crusades, and cross-cultural historical analysis.[3] He is active in digital academic publishing and has contributed to Arabic and English scholarship.

Academic Career

He has held academic positions at:

  • Scandinavian University, Norway (2010–2012)[4]
  • Ares University, United States (2012–2014)[5]
  • Ibn Rushd University, Netherlands (2015–present)

Sayed is also a member of the research team on cultural communication at Mohamed Khider University, Algeria (since 2019). He has served as a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous academic journals across the Arab world.[6]
