Asim Kumar Roy Choudhury (born on 1 May 1954) is an Indian Academician, an expert in the fields of textile chemistry and colour science. He is globally well-known as researcher and author of textile books.
Early life and education[edit]
Roy Choudhury was born in Berhampore in the district of Murshidabad and in the state of West Bengal of India. He completed B.Tech from Government College of Engineering & Textile Technology, Berhampore and M.Tech from IIT, Delhi. Roy Choudhury obtained Ph.D degree from the applied physics department of University of Calcutta in the year 1996 on the Study on Metamerism.
Career[edit]
Roy Choudhury started his professional carrier by joining in the quality control department of an old composite textile mill. He joined as lecturer at the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore in 1982 and retired as Professor and HOD (Textile). Roy Choudhury is presently working as principal, KPS Institute of Polytechnic, Belmuri. He has over 35 years’ experience in textile coloration and finishing in academia and industry, and has written numerous papers and several authored and multi-authored books on the subject published by reputed publishers like Woodhead, Elsevier, CRC Press, Taylor and Francis, Springer, Apple etc., including the two-volume work Principles of Colour and Appearance Measurement and Principles of Textile Finishing (Elsevier), Textile Preparation and Dyeing (Science Publishers, USA and SDC, India).[1]
