History[edit]

Formation, Deliverance, From Yours Truly, Our Cheers To Politics Singles (2009–2010)[edit]

Assassins was formed in Detroit, Michigan by vocalist Todd Jansen and former bassist Rob Sebastian in 2009. In order to fill vacant member slots the two founders released Deliverance, From Yours Truly, and Our Cheers To Politics singles via iTunes, although these songs are no longer available for purchase via online mediums. We Came as Romans bassist Andy Glass introduced ex-Wings of Lead and now current Assassins lead guitarist, Steven Taylor to the band following the singles release in 2010. Former member and drummer, Tony Armijo was introduced to the band through mutual friends; and through Armijo, former guitarist Blake Howard was brought on board to complete the band's first full line-up. Pj Clark would replace Amijo on drums in 2011; and in 2012, Anthony Gaglio and former drummer Max Brown would replace founder Sabastian and Clark on bass and drums respectively; and current rhythm guitarist Dennis Tuohey would be brought on-board and Taylor would replace ex-lead guitarist Blake Howard on lead guitar duties. These were the final personnel changes to the current band. Jansen is responsible for the writing of the music and the sustainability of the band's message. The band played their first show in September, 2010. "Deliverance", "From Yours Truly", and "Our Cheers To Politics" singles were re-released via iTunes in October 2011, but have since been removed from the site.

The Awakening EP (2010–2013)[edit]

The band began to work on The Awakening EP in late 2010. It would take over a year to write, and was released July 17, 2012 via iTunes. The band played their hometown CD release show on July 14, 2012; and shortly before the release the band met with Mike Mowery of Outerloop Management and secured a deal through the company at Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey. The band's first major tour under their new management came by way of the "Milk Was A Bad Choice Tour" (October 2012) with headliner Ice Nine Kills and additional support from Wolves at the Gate.[1] On October 19, 2012 the band released their official music video for "My Vision With Eyes Closed" exclusively on Alternative Press.[2] This video was directed by Corbin Alvae. To end 2012, the band provided support to headliner Like Moths to Flames on a mini-tour (December 2012) with additional support from The Plot In You, Ice Nine Kills, and Horizons.[3] The band released a live video for "Thy Kingdom Come" on May 12, 2013; and on June 7, 2013 the band released a video for "Your Last Impression" featuring live footage from their hometown shows.

New Album (2013–Current)[edit]

Assassins began writing their debut full length album in January 2013. Dirk Zeiser of Outerloop Management, who has previously worked with bands such as In Flames and Chimaira; was added to oversee the writing process. The band began recording in July 2013 at AudioHammer Studios in Orlando, Florida with Eyal Levi and wrapped up the first session on August 5, 2013. The band re-entered AudioHammer Studios on September 11, 2013 and wrapped on September 19, 2013. Shortly before the first session started recording, drummer Max Brown announced his departure. On September 5, 2013, the band announced this record would be scheduled for release in the spring of 2014. On December 20, 2013, Assassins released an unmastered single entitled "Waking Up;" as well as their tour support announcement to Carnifex, Betraying The Martyrs, I Declare War, and Here Comes The Kraken (February 21 - March 29, 2014).[4]

Name Origin[edit]

Vocalist Todd Jansen created the name Assassins because "The Bled was both one of our favorite bands, and their song called "My Assassin" was always one of my favorites."
