Avon,[1] formerly known as Associated and Marsh,[3] is an unincorporated community in Contra Costa County, California, United States.[1] It is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east-northeast of Martinez,[3] at an elevation of 10 feet (3 m).[1]
A post office operated at Avon from 1912 to 1960.[3] It was originally called Marsh, and in 1913 the name was changed to Associated.[3] The name Marsh was in honor of John Marsh.[3] The name Associated was for the Tidewater Associated Oil Company, owner of the site.[3]
