Ayodele Okudalaiye, also known as SACO - an acronym for the Senior Advocate of Comedy (SACO), is a compere, public speaker, comedian and activist. He is the Executive Director of SACO Events Limited, an event management company in Lagos. He is also the founder of The SACO Initiative, a platform where young people are mentored and encouraged to pursue their dreams.[1]

Early Life[edit]

Ayodele ‘SACO’ Okudalaiye was born in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. He attended Ikosi Primary School, Ketu, Lagos for his primary education. He moved to Ikosi High School, Ketu and proceeded to the University of Ilorin to study Accounting, four years after finishing secondary school.[2]

He began to hone his skills as a comedian, joining a group called ‘Action Incorporated’, meeting weekly to build on self-esteem, abstaining from illicit sex, self-awareness and self-expression through songs and comedy. Growing up in church, he realised that he could also make people laugh, and soon began to anchor church programmes and many other events.[3]

Education[edit]

Ayodele holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Data Processing from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. He also has a certification in Entrepreneurial Management from the Enterprise Development Center, Pan – Atlantic University.[4]

Ayodele Okudalaiye is an ambassador for Project Enable Africa, an organisation that monitors, tracks, reports and drives the implementation of the newly assented Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Bill, 2018.[5]

In 2016, he joined music producer I.D. Cabasa, artiste 9ice, Isaac Geralds, comedian, compere and songwriter, EmmaohmaGod, Ranti, and other artistes at the Lagos City Mall for a groundbreaking musical concert.[6]

On the pandemic, SACO was among top Nigerian entertainers, including Jaywon and DJ Jimmy Jatt, who spoke with The Punch about the losses (which the newspaper places at N1 billion) that the entertainment industry experienced due to the nationwide lockdown and social distancing. In the interview, SACO emphasized that entertainers and content creators need to "adapt and embrace digital content creation more than ever".[7]

The Spirit of SACO, a top-notch ethical family entertainment show produced and hosted by SACO, officially reached a decade in 2015.[8]. The show, created with a passion for lighting up the heart, empower the mind and transform lives for greater Nigeria, has featured top personalities such as Mc Abbey, Woli Agba & Dele, Kenny Blaq, Teju Babyface and Fela Durotoye.[9]
