Bankole Williams is the founder of Live Your Dreams Africa organisation[1], a non-profit established to create transformational and sustainable change in the lives of Africans.

Early life and education[edit]

Williams was born on 8 January 1982 in Lagos Nigeria to Nigerian parents, Mr. Lawrence Kehinde Williams and Mrs. Justina Nkem Williams. Though birthed and groomed in Lagos, he is an indigene of Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.

He attended the Federal Government College Ijanikin (1992 - 1998) where he graduated as an exceptional distinction student. He attended the University of Lagos where he studied Biochemistry (1998 – 2004) and graduated with second-class honors.

Career[edit]

Williams started his career as a Human Resource Officer with Guaranty Trust Bank where he worked between 2005 to 2009.

He had a burning desire to tackle the unemployment and underemployment problems in Africa by creating job opportunities.

In 2015, he founded the LYDA Foundation, a non-profit established to create transformational and sustainable change in the quality of life in Africa. The foundation won the Google.org Grant Award for Enterprise Development from Google to enable the creation of jobs and sustainable vocational acquisition programs.[2]

In 2018, he established the Dreams Development Centre to create 10,000 jobs across Africa in 7 years by providing vocational education (technical, business, and life Skills) to under-served communities through training and providing opportunities for internships/apprenticeships. The Dream Development Centre puts intentional effort to help participants gain the best knowledge from the best hands in the industry, equally providing mentorship and networking opportunities. So far, The Dream Development Centre and project has recorded the creation of 1002 viable businesses via its skill acquisition programs.[3]

The LYDA foundation has successfully reached 112,876 people through its community change projects, empowered 28,219 individuals at its annual LYDA conferences and Dream Development Centre projects.[4]
