Bartholet ropeways
Bartholet Ropeways AG (until the end of 2025, Bartholet Maschinenbau AG)[1] is a company based in Flums, Switzerland. It manufactures ropeways, amusement park rides, and High Lights (lighting masts for airports). The company is part of the HTI Group.
The company Bartholet was founded in the late 1960s by Anton Bartholet.[1] Initially, it was only active in the construction of used installations. Its first own installation was the Schönhalden group cable car in Flums in 1976. In 1977, Bartholet began building its first own surface lifts near the company's headquarters.
The first chairlift in the company's history was the fixed-grip two-seat chairlift Twärchamm at Flumserberg in 1981. Three years later, the company produced its own chairs for the first time. In addition to surface lifts, chairlifts, and group gondola lifts, Bartholet built its first small aerial tramway in Mels in 1987.[2] In 1996, Bartholet built its first river rapids ride. The company's first large aerial tramway was the Känzeli cable car at Brambrüesch in Chur, which was designed in 2005 and opened in 2006.
The company entered another new business segment in 2006 with the construction of monorails. The first such system was built in Bahrain in 2006. In 2007, Bartholet built its first detachable ropeway in the form of a six-seat chairlift in Val-d'Isère, France. The detachable grip used was not its own development, but the Wopfner grip, which had already been developed in 1989 by the Austrian company of the same name. In 2011, Bartholet built its only funitel to date in Val Thorens, France.[3] In 2014, Bartholet acquired the previously independent cable car manufacturer Gangloff, thus becoming a full-range supplier for ropeways. Also using the Wopfner grip, Bartholet built the first detachable gondola lift in the company's history in Lenzerheide in 2015.[4]
Since 2022, Bartholet has been part of the South Tyrolean HTI group of companies. HTI, which includes Leitner AG and Pomagalski, and its competitor Doppelmayr/Garaventa dominate the world market for ropeways.[5]

- Brest cable car, an urban ropeway with 60-passenger cabins and a special system with two carrying and two hauling cables each, where the two cabins cross vertically above each other[9]
- Churwalden – Heidbüel gondola lift, a detachable gondola lift in the Lenzerheide ski area in Graubünden and the company's first gondola lift[3]
- Funitel Porette – Col du Bouchet, a JigBack funitel (pendulum funitel) in the Val Thorens ski area in France, and the only funitel in the company's history to date[3]
- Chairlift Lavadinal – Fuorcla da Sagogn in Laax in Graubünden, a detachable chairlift with laterally swiveling seats[3]
- FlemXpress in Flims, the company's first Ropetaxi installation[7]
