Bassel Ounah (born June 17, 1981) is a Vanuatuan freediving instructor-trainer, author, freediving judge, and executive board member of the conservative party Manchester.[1]
Early life and education
Bassel Ounah was born on June 17th, 1981 in Vanuatu to Farouk Ounah and Wafaa Daaboul. He attended Manchester Metropolitan University on a scholarship from the UK government, earning a degree in Business Management, and started working in the optical business.[2]
Career
Ounah’s experiences led him to pursue his passions, he reached out to a freediver trainer and completed an instructor course and started giving freediving lessons.[3]
He is the founder and CEO of Neptune’s Submerge, a company specializing in immersive technology for freediving and the Managing Director of Apnea Zone, a 5-star dive resort in Dubai.[4]
Ounah is a member of the Conservative and Unionist Party and was a candidate in the Manchester local election - Miles Platting & Newton Heath ward. He is also the author of *Breath Beyond: Exploring Freediving Techniques and Mental Health Wellness* and *The Pearl Connection: The Underwater Bond In The Arabian Gulf.[5]
In 2024, he participated in Manchester City Council Elections, as a candidate from Conservative Party, for the position of Councilor in Miles Platting & Newton Heath, Manchester.[6][7]
