The battle of Neskuchne was a military engagement which began on 7 June 2023, during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, as part of the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive, and ended on 11 June 2023 when Ukrainian forces succefully stormed the village and recaptured it.[2][3]
Background[edit]
Since March 2023, Ukraine had been preparing to recapture the village. It had become an outpost of the occupying Russian forces, with a complex geography: a hill on one side, and the Mokri Yaly river on the other. On a hill below the river there was a school in which a Russian fortified point was located. The village had been under the occupation for more than a year and there were several attempts to retake it which all ended in failure.[4]
Battle[edit]
On the morning of June 7, the storming of the village began and by June 11 the village was liberated by the 7th Battalion Arei of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army of and the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces.[5][6][7][8][9][10]
