BeeRides Car Sharing

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

BeeRides is a German-Hungarian car-sharing service with a focus on airports that helps travelers to park for free at airports and get additional revenue by renting out their cars for those who need a rental car. Car owners who rent out their cars for a longer period get guaranteed income besides the free parking.[1] The company operates at Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport since 2015, as well as Frankfurt Airport, Düsseldorf Airport, and at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport since 2018. The company has received more than €1 million in venture capital investment. The latest investor is the Innogy Innovation Hub, which invested in BeeRides in 2018.[2]

History

BeeRides Car Sharing was founded in 2015 by Botond Bosze, Szilárd Bozoki, and Márton Szőt. In 2018, Gergő Kalcsics joined the management team.[3] The company employs 10 people. BeeRides Car Sharing has welcomed users from 4 continents and from over 50 countries.

Conception

BeeRides provides free parking at airports and rents out these vehicles at competitive prices to incoming tourists. Besides the free parking, the car owners get half of the rental fee and a free car wash after the parking. Car owners who park for a longer period (minimum 30 days) at BeeRides receive a guaranteed monthly fee from the company. The fee depends on the make, model, and production year of the car. For rental customers, BeeRides Car Sharing provides unique cars and a best price guarantee. With the help of its in-house developed smart locker, users can collect the key and the car's papers non-stop without any queue. Users are expected to complete the contracting and payment process online. Given its automated user flow, it is not possible to park or rent a car with BeeRides by phone or in person.[4]

International Expansion

Dortmund Airport

After two years of operating in Budapest, in June 2017, BeeRides opened its first location in Germany at Dortmund Airport. The company suspended its operation in 2018 as a result of a shift in focus towards larger airports.[5]

Düsseldorf Airport

In April 2018, BeeRides became available at Düsseldorf Airport, the third busiest airport in Germany. Similar to the Budapest location, the company runs its service/operation in Germany with local partners.[6]

Berlin-Schönefeld Airport

The next location after Düsseldorf opened in August 2018 in Berlin near Berlin-Schönefeld Airport, which has around 13 million passengers annually.

Frankfurt Airport

In October 2018, after the successful openings in Düsseldorf and Berlin, BeeRides Car Sharing started its operations at Frankfurt Airport, Germany's busiest airport.[7]

Fleet

The BeeRides fleet is composed of cars owned by private individuals. According to the company, its car owners include people who travel for a few weeks, people who work abroad for a longer period and leave their car at the airport, as well as people who have bought a car or cars for investment purposes. The company also has professional cars in its fleet to provide a high level of service quality.
