Maj Gen Albertus Burger SD SM MMM was a South African Air Force officer.
He joined the SAAF in 1962 and trained as a pilot at Central Flying School, Dunnottar and received his wings at the end of that year. During 1963 to 1965, he attended the South African Military Academy and graduated with a bachelor's degree in military science from Stellenbosch University. He was a Pilot Instructor at CFS Dunnottar, OC 12 Squadron from 1981 to 1982, Attack Instructor at 85 Advanced Flying School, Air Force Base Langebaanweg, OC AFB Ondangwa from 1982 to 1983. He was promoted to the rank of brigadier in 1990. Director Manpower at Chief of Staff Personnel from October 1990 to November 1992, Chief of Air Staff Personnel from December 1992 to February 1995. Inspector General SANDF from March 1995 to April 1996 and finally Chief of Air Staff from May 1996 to May 1998. He retired from the SANDF on 31 May 1998.
