Maj Gen Chris Lombard SD SM MMM was a South African Air Force officer.
He joined the SAAF in January 1963 and trained at the SAAF Gymnasium. He qualified as a pilot at Central Flying School, Dunnottar and received his wings in December 1963. He attended the South African Military Academy in 1964 to 1966 and graduated with bachelor's degree in military science from Stellenbosch University. He was an Pilot Instructor at CFS Dunnottar in 1967, Flight Instructor at Air Force Base Langebaanweg in 1968–1969, Pilot at Advanced Flying School in Pietersburg, Flight Commander 3 Squadron in 2976, OC 85 Advanced Flying School, OC AFB Hoedspruit in 1985–1986. He was promoted to rank of brigadier in January 1990. OC SAAF Training Command from January 1990 to February 1993. He was promoted to rank of major general on 1 March 1993. Inspector General SADF from Mar 1993 to Apr 1994 and IG SANDF from April 1994 to February 1995. Chief of Air Staff from May 1996 to May 1998. Chief of Air Staff in May-Sep 1998. He retired from the SANDF on 30 September 1998.
