Bipole IV: Liberation of Xuir is a tactical role-playing game released for Microsoft Windows and MacOS on May 22, 2021. The game was designed and created by infinityJKA using the Python turtle library.[1] It is part of the ongoing Lemniscate webseries, and is considered the 35th entry in it.[2]

The game claims to be "the first full-length strategy role-playing game made with Python Turtle."[1]

Gameplay[edit]

The game switches between gameplay segments, in which the player controls characters in turn-based combat, and story segments, in which the player can make decisions that affect the story. Actions taken in both segments can result in the permeant death of characters, which can affect the outcome of the story. There are over 50 playable characters, and 10 different endings that are possible the achieve.

Story[edit]

The game takes place during 1298 AN, 1298 years after a the world was almost destroyed in a war in 2300 AD. Since the reformation of Earth in 2300 AD, humanity has gain the power to use magic and has lost most of their previous technology. with the vast majority of humanity unaware of the previous Earth.

Proton Xurr, a knight in the Territory of Static and failed result of cloning a powerful individual known as Xuir, is tasked to stop a bandit attack, along with his comrade Quest and adopted father Scien. on the Territory of Sine. As the story continues, he fights through many battles until reaching the Nation of Alter, where a powerful artifact known as the Holy Itucher was discovered and stolen by scientists from the Shadow Realm.

In the true ending of the game, Proton battles Death Pepper, the head of the scientists and his creator, for the Holy Itucher and wins. However, Quest becomes possessed by the Holy Itucher and Proton is forced to seal him within it.

If the player kills certain characters, the outcome of the story can change drastically.

Repins Blaze, a playable character that will fight alongside Proton during the true ending route, will become the final boss of the game if his family is recruited and killed during the combat portion of the game.

Break, a minor character and scientist in the Shadow Realm, will become the final boss if certain story conditions are met to prevent Omega, the leader of a cult hunting down Proton during the game third act, from dying.

If all playable characters other than Proton have been killed by the end of Proton's battle at the Nation of Altar. Proton will meet Azure, a god-like entity who directly acknowledges the player, who tells him that he must obtain the Holy Itucher to fulfill his role in a prophecy that is keeping the world together. If Azure dies before this is accomplished, the world collapses when Proton kills Death Pepper. The game will then tell the player to enter a code, and coding so will play a cutscene where a character named Pernicious will talk to the player before moving on the destroy the multiverse. Entering the code but providing a different player name than the one in the previous save file will cause Pernicious to call the player a lier.

Legacy[edit]

The next game in the Lemniscate Bipole seires, Bipole V: Dungeons of Biphero, recieved a public alpha release on November 11, 2021 and full release on June 3, 2022.[3] The game contains references to characters from Bipole IV: Liberation of Xuir, and takes place in the same fictional multiverse.

The FIRST Tech Challenge team, 2866 Territory of Static, was named after the fictional Territory of Static from Bipole IV: Liberation of Xuir.
