Bizness Boi has collaborated with several of today's biggest names, with credits on Swae Lee's Swaecation, Mary J. Blige's remake of Elton John's “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word", Blackbear's Digital Druglord, On Gaz by A.CHAL, "Real Hitta" by Plies and Kodak Black, and many more.[3] In 2017, Bizness Boi earned his first Grammy nomination for his work with 6LACK's debut album Free 6lack, which earned Gold Certification earlier that year.[4]
Life and career[edit]
Early Life[edit]
Bizness Boi was born on March 10, 1988 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He first learned to create music at the age of 13, thanks to Playstation's MTV Music Generator video game gifted to him by his grandmother.[5] In elementary school, he had already starting rapping and writing. It was always a passion. Growing up in Milwaukee forced him to make his own way in the world, but he had a lot of support behind him, friends and family pushing him to be his best.[6]
He studied business administration and management at the University of Wisconsin.[7] In 2011, the aspiring producer moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta with the help of his grandmother to study at University of Arkansas Little-Rock. After one year at University of Arkansas, Bizness Boi dropped out of school. In 2014, he moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a career in music. [8]
Career[edit]
During his three years living in Atlanta, Georgia, Bizness Boi began producing for acts like T.I., Lil Scrappy, and Trae tha Truth.[9] In 2014 he moved to LA where he was homeless for some time[10], until the summer of 2015 he started working with PartyNextDoor courtesy of his friend Prep "Bijan" Hughes, who he grew up with in Milwaukee.[11] In August 2016, he got his big break with notable exposure after he landed production credits on four tracks off PartyNextDoor's second studio album P3.[12]
Bizness Boi has since become one of the most in-demand record producers making waves in the R&B and hip-hop space working with artists like PartyNextDoor, Majid Jordan, Blackbear, A.CHAL, Kodak Black, Xavier Omar, Baka Not Nice, K. Forest, Ye Ali, Plies, Justine Skye, and many others.[13] [14][15]
In 2017, Bizness Boi earned his first-ever Grammy-nomination for the 2018 Grammy Awards for his work on 6LACK's debut album Free 6lack, which also achieved Gold Certification earlier that year.[16]
In 2018, Bizness Boi had a string of releases including his co-production with Mary J. Blige's “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" on Elton John's album ReVamp: Reimagining the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin.[17] Bizness Boi also played a major role in the creation of Swae Lee's March 2018 solo debut Swaecation, including the artist's lead single "Hurt to Look".[18]
