Dwayne Hibbert (Born June 24th 1993), professionally known as Blizzi is a reggae, dancehall artiste, songwriter and producer. Blizzi is the grandson of the living legend and iconic musician Toots Hibbert. Blizzi is an accomplished songwriter and audio engineer. His music encompasses a wide range of Reggae, Dancehall and Electronic dance music (EDM).

Early life[edit]

Blizzi was born in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Jennifer Hamilton and Hopeton Hibbert. His passion for music was borne from his desire to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and from an early age he gained first-hand experience of learning about the intricacies of the developing his sound. Dancehall music would leave an indelible mark on the impressionable Blizzi, who sort to carve a successful career in his choosen genre.

Blizzi’s interest in music started in preparatory school, where he was the lead drummer of the Liberty Drummers group, its influence of which borrowed its humbled beginnings from Mento music[1]. It was here the group represented Jamaica at the World Championship of the performing arts; acquiring a silver and bronze medal [2]. This humble introduction to public performance would set the pace for what would be a long career in music.

"In the mid-1980s, digital instrumentation became more prevalent, changing the sound considerably, with digital Dancehall becoming increasingly characterized by faster rhythms"[3]. This pivotal era shaped Blizzi's perception of music and his desire to stamp his own influence would lead him to develop his unique sound.

Music career[edit]

In 2015, Blizzi released his debut single, "Jah See And Know" featured Toots and the Maytals. Blizzi describes it as “a dream come true” to be on the same track as his grandfather sharing that the lessons he was taught during this project was invaluable[4]. Since then he has gone on to produce and record a number of hit songs to include, "#1", "Millions" of which will debut on his forthcoming E.P, "Legacy". "Millions" is fast becoming an international hit, playing on both local and international radio [5].
