Chemmanur Devassy Kutty Boby popularly known as Boby Chemmanur is an Indian businessman and philanthropist from Thrissur, Kerala.[1] He is the chairman and managing director of Boby Group of Companies.[2]

Family[edit]

Boby Chemmanur was born to Inashu Devassykutty and Sicily Devassykutty on the 26th of May 1969 in Thrissur, Kerala. His father was an Indian Air Force officer and his mother was a homemaker. Boby is married to Smitha and they have a daughter.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

Chemmanur Jewellers started as a small jewellery shop at Varanthirappilly in Thrissur district of Kerala in 1860s. In 2008, Boby announced Chemmanur Credits, a microfinance company with its headquarters at Thrissur. Bobby also owns and manages a few other businesses namely Boby Bazar, Boby Tours & Travels, Phygicart, Boby Chemmanur Airlines and Boby Oxygen Resorts.[3][4][5] In 2016 Boby inaugrated a mobile jewellery store named 'Parakkum Jewellery', which is reportedly the first mobile jewellery in India.[6] A Heli Taxi service was launched in 2020 named Boby Heli Taxi which connects popular tourist destinations in Kerala.[7]

Philanthropy[edit]

Boby is the founder of Life Vision Charitable Trust, a non-profit aimed at helping the homeless and vulnerable.[8] In 2014, he undertook an 812 kilometers marathon across the state of Kerala in order to spread the message of blood donation among people of Kerala.[9] Boby Chemmanur also runs a charity organization named Boby Fans and Charitable Association.[10][11]
