Boosteroid is a Ukraine-based cloud gaming platform providing web and app based online access to video games. The platform ensures high-quality graphics and smooth gaming experience. It is powered by remote high-performance servers with almost unlimited computing capabilities, which enables players to use the platform at the same time.

History[edit]

Boosteroid was founded in 2017. It's main objective was to ensure advanced gaming experience for avid gamers all over the world, and make high-end hardware less of importance. The Beta version was released in June 2017, in Ukraine, in late June 2019, a close beta was launched to the Romanian public, and a fully-functional version was made available in Eastern Europe in September 2019. Throught the years 2020 - 2021, Boosteroid expanded quickly into Europe with new Data Centers in Italy, Ukraine, UK, Slovakia, France, Spain, Sweden and Serbia. In 2022, after months of waiting, US Cloud Gamers finally got access to Boosteroid servers. As of 2023, the service is set to expand in Latin America and Asia/Middle East in the following months.[4]

Infastructure[edit]

The service hosts its own GPU-servers in 18 data centers in Romania, Italy, Ukraine, UK, Slovakia, France, Spain, Sweden, Serbia, and the USA (Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Washington).[5][6]

Boosteroid partners with Asus [7]and Intel[8] for its server solutions.

Availability[edit]

Initially avaliable only in browser, at the moment Boosteroid offers clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS (as a progressive web app), as well as Android TV, Android Mobile applications, and LG TVs.[9]

Partnerships[edit]

On March 14, 2023, Boosteroid and Microsoft announced a 10-year contract to enable players to play titles published by Xbox Game Studios and Activision Blizzard (upon Acqusition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft). As of 2023, Boosteroid has 4 million users, making it the largest independent cloud gaming company in the world.[10][11][12]
