Launched in 2002 by Tom Gire and John Sponsler,[1] Brand X was among the first music libraries specifically designed for the unique needs of movie trailers, television promos and video game trailers. The company has supplied tracks to many film trailers such as Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Hobbit.

About the company[edit]

John Sponsler and Tom Gire first met each other in 1998, when they worked together on the music for the teaser video of The Matrix. After that, they continued to work on music of other campaigns for Warner Bros like The Last Samurai, 300, Troy, Harry Potter.[2][3]

The company Brand X Music was officially launched in 2002 by John and Tom, and they composed all the tracks in the catalog for the first 10 years. John and Tom also worked as arrangers in Hans Zimmer's team,[5] composed additional music for movies like: Rango, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides[6][7]

In 2008, Josh Lynch joined the team to work as the company's assistant, but later became a composer as well. Today, Brand X Music is operated by 11 full-time composers & admins.[8]

In 2016, Brand X Music celebrated their 15-year anniversary. They released 2 special albums for this occasion: Chronos on 26 January, with all new tracks, and Battle For Dawn on 8 August, a compilation album. The two founders, John and Tom, also showed up to join a live-stream event hosted by Epic Music VN, an epic music YouTube channel, where they talked about Brand X Music history as well as answered fans' questions.[2]
