Brendan Gahan is a video marketing professional, advertising industry commentator, and entrepreneur.[2][3][4] He is the founder of the advertising agency Epic Signal.[5][6][7]

Career[edit]

Gahan began his career in advertising in 2006 by developing influencer marketing partnerships between companies and content creators on YouTube.[8] At the time, there was no other way to monetize a YouTube account, and the partnership Gahan brokered between YouTube comedy channel Smosh and an MP3 player manufacturer is regarded as an early example of influencer marketing relationships on the platform.[9] He was hired by Mekanism, a marketing agency, in 2007 and was the director of social media until 2013, when he left to start his own agency, Epic Signal.[10][11] In 2015, Gahan's former employer, Mekanism, acquired Epic Signal (the company Gahan had left Mekanism to start) as a subsidiary, and Gahan stayed on to run the company.[12] During Gahan's time at Mekanism he has produced video campaigns for Brisk iced tea, Mountain Dew, the White House, and others.[13][14]

Gahan comments on and writes about digital video trends and online video platforms including YouTube and TikTok.[15][16][17][18] He has served on the advisory board for the video tech conference VidCon since 2016.[19]
