Bret Robbins is an American video game developer, designer, and director, he is currently the CEO of the Ascendant Studios. Bret Robbins best known for his work on the Dead Space series for Visceral Games and the Call of Duty series for Sledgehammer Games. He founded his own studio, Ascendant Studios, in 2018.[1]
Biography[edit]
Bret Robbins entered the video game industry by joining Crystal Dynamics in 1996. He worked on Gex and Legacy of Kain francises at Crystal Dynamics for 6 years before joining Visceral Games in 2002.[2]
Bret Robbins has worked at Visceral Games as senior game designer on game adaptations of major film franchises such as The Lord of the Rings and James Bond. He worked as Creative Director on Dead Space in 2008.[3][4]
In 2009, Bret Robbins was nominated for the best action and adventure game at the BAFTA for his work in Dead Space.[5]
Bret Robbins joined Sledgehammer Games in 2009 and worked on Call of Duty series for 9 years. He worked as creative director on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and as senior creative on Call of Duty: WW2.[6][7]
Bret Robbins founded his own studio, Ascendant Studios, in 2018 in partnership with businessman Brian Sheth, co-founder and Former president of private equity software investor Vista Equity Partners.[8][9]
In 2022, Bret Robbins announced Immortals of Aveum, the first game developed by his new studio. He also announced that its being published by Electronic Arts under the EA Originals label.[10]
