Budh Vihar is a locality in the North West district of Delhi, India.[3] It is divided into two phases: Phase l and Phase II. The locality is densely populated, generally known for its shopping street and eateries.[4]

Overview[edit]

Budh Vihar is a residential locality lying in the western part of North Delhi in the vicinity of Rohini Avantika, Bawana, Rithala and Mangolpuri. The roads in the locality are not that wide, and famous for its market crowded street. The locality is one of the upcoming localities[5]of New Delhi with the development of DMRC metro stations in close proximity. The locality is close to parks like the Avantika Udyaan and Mangolpuri Y Block park.

The Budh Vihar main road in the locality goes alongside a canal and connects the locality to the Rithala road. It is close to the Outer Ring Road, which connects the locality to several prominent parts of Delhi like Paschim Vihar and Janakpuri.

Market[edit]

The area is popular with affluent people for shopping, with a busy market street called Budh Vihar Main Market, having a variety of garments, jewellery and provisional- confectionery stores. It is also popular for its eateries which include BTW, Aggarwal Sweets, Bikanervala, The Pizza Palace, Wah Ji Wah, Haldiram's and various momos' junctions. It's a long, crowded market street.

There are several small shops in and around the locality. Apart from these shops, the Budh Vihar wholesale market, BKD, the RajMandir hypermart, and Patanjali Megastore are some of the shopping complex and markets in the area.

Schools[edit]

Budh Vihar has numerous kindergarten and CBSE affiliated schools including Yuvashakti Model School, JSS Khalsa Model School, Prince Public School[6], Nav Durga Adarsh Vidyalaya, BR Tyagi Public School, St Francis Convent School, Vidya Sagar Public School, SR Public School and Citizen Model School. It has a hub of coaching institutes as well.

Hospitals[edit]

The locality has several medical shops and private clinics. Some of the hospitals and healthcare centres in and around the budh vihar phase locality are Brahma Shakti Hospital, Rajni Gupta Hospital, Shri Balaji Hospital. It has government dispenseries including Mohalla Clinic and Seed PUHC.[7]

Religious sites[edit]

Budh Vihar locality has several temples including Hanuman Mandir, Kali Mata Mandir, Shani Dham, Shri Khatu Shyam Baba Temple, Laxminarayan Mandir, several mosques include Noor Masjid and a Gurdwara named Gurdwara Singh Sabha.

The area also includes cremation grounds- Shamshan Ghat, Alpha Christian Cemetery and Qabristan Riyajul Jannat.

Cultural ceremonies[edit]

There's a cultural club called Arts Club and a Ramleela ground which have been organising Ramleela every year since 1983. The Dussehra and Holika Dehen festivals are celebrated together on the ground. There's Janmashtami festival organised in a pomp.Nagar Kirtan and Prabhat Pheri are organised by Gurudwara Singh Sabha every year.

Transport[edit]

The frequent transport connectivity is available connect to several parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) Budh Vihar has frequent bus facility having bus route numbers 957, 962, 182, 114, 972 connecting it to almost all corners of Delhi. The locality also has several RTV buses for shorter routes and till metro stations, connecting Rohini West, Pitampura and Peeragarhi metro stations. The E-Rickshaw facility is also available to travel to Rithala metro station.There is an auto junction point on the Kanjhawala road.
