budli.in, also known as Budli (Hindi meaning: Change), is an online recommerce portal based in India. It buys and sells open box and/or second-hand gadgets like smartphones, tablets, laptops and iPods.[1][2]

History

The company was founded in 2013 in Kolkata and is presently operated from its office based in Bangalore. The founder and CEO of Budli is Rohit Bagaria. He says the idea for budli.in was born when he felt the paucity of a market that offered fair price for used smartphones and laptops to sellers, and quality refurbished gadgets from a trusted source.[3][4][5]

Overview

Customers using the company's services receive a quote online based on the age, market price and condition of their technological equipment. Once the quote is accepted, the customers send their items through a courier facility. The company inspects the gadget, pays the customer, and then repairs and resells it.[6][7] The company also sources products from e-commerce companies, manufacturers, retailers and distributors. The company works in in collaboration with e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal for liquidation of products and refurbishing of goods.[8][9][10][11]

Companies like ReGlobe, Greendust, YNew and ValueCart are the other recommerce companies in India which provide similar services.[12]

The company won EO Member’s Choice for Startup of the Year 2015[13] and the South India Business Chamber Award - Business Leadership Award.[14]
