Buhle Samuels (born 25 May 1990) [1] is a South African actress, television presenter, and singer. [2] She is well-known for portraying the role of Matshidiso Mofokeng on Muvhango on SABC 2. [3][4]
Early life and Education
Samuels was born in 1990 in Protea, Soweto. [1] She has an elder sister called Mbali Samuels. Samuels is born into a family of four. [5] She went to Pretoria, Gauteng, for her primary and secondary education. [6] She has a degree in Somatology. [7]
Career
Samuels was a host on Africa Magic’s Breakfast Show, but her major breakthrough came in 2014 with her role as Matshidiso Mofokeng on SABC 2’s Muvhango. [3] She was discovered during auditions for The Lion King, and her performance earned her a “Best Newcomer” nomination at the 2015 Royalty Soapie Awards. [2]
After four seasons, she left Muvhango to pursue new opportunities, including a music career, emphasizing that her decision stemmed from personal growth rather than professional conflicts. In 2019, Samuels joined eTV’s Imbewu: The Seed as Zandile and later appeared in Netflix’s Kings of Joburg as Angela Masire. She has also expressed interest in directing and expanding her career within the entertainment industry. [2]
