Cactus Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to empowering adults to prevent child sexual abuse.[1]
History[edit]
Cactus Foundation was the official partner of Education Department of Pune to sensitize more than 1000 schools from Pune, Ahmednagar and Solapur District.[2][3]
Cactus Foundation is an organization working towards creating safe childhood for kids around. It has a dedicate team of volunteers working tirelessly for the social cause.[4]
Genesis and principles[edit]
Cactus foundation vision India to be a country which values it's children and their childhood, protects them from any harm, does not tolerate any kind of Abuse towards them, and help them grow into responsible adults.[5] The main focus of organization is to create emotionally healthy society.[6]
Outreach[edit]
Founded in 2011 by Nusrat Khan and Rohit Pahade, Cactus Foundation sensitized more than 120,000 children by age sensitive modules, books and impartation.[7]
Awareness programs[edit]
Cactus Foundation organize sessions, street plays, campaigns, training programs, movies, walkathons to reach out to people in unorganized sector[8][9]
1001 Schools[edit]
Cactus Foundation have partnered government schools of Pune, Solapur and Nagar Districts (Maharashtra) comprising of more than 10,000 schools. Their part time volunteers undergo rigorous trainings to create awareness about stop child sexual abuse. With due permissions of Education Department and school authorities, Cactus Foundation either conduct 1 to 2 session per in that school or we deploy more trainers to cover all the classes in a single day. Teachers and non-teaching staff are provided trainings on topics like:
- Child Sexual Abuse
- POCSO Act, 2012
Listen to My Eyes[edit]
By “Listen to my Eyes” project, Cactus Foundation create awareness regarding child sexual abuse among hearing and speech impaired people.
Cactus Foundation sensitize children, staff and parents on the evils of Sexual Abuse. In this campaign, Cactus Foundation use visual aids to explain one how to protect themselves from abuse.
Save the Children[edit]
Cactus Foundation organize "STOP CHILD SEXUAL AWARENESS" Campaigns in NCLP Solapur. NCLP provides Educational rehabilitation of child labors working in various hazardous and non-hazardous occupations. National Child Labor’s Project, Solapur has 60 centers with approximately 50 children in each center (Total Number of Children – 3000).[10][11][12]
Protect the Unprotected[edit]
Cactus Foundation also organize project “Protect the Unprotected” awareness campaigns for children at orphanages, to help them be aware of sexual abuse at the hands of other elder kids, facilitators as well as to protect themselves from being sold to sex cartels.[13][14][15]
