California Azerbaijan Friendship Association (Azerbaijani: Kaliforniya Azərbaycan Dostluq Assosiasiyası), or simply CAFA (Azerbaijani: KADA) is an organization created by Azerbaijanis living in California, USA. It is the first organization created by Azerbaijanis that covers a whole state. The main goal of this association is to unite all the Azerbaijanis living in California, and to further strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and California in various fields.[1]
The organization was established on December 20, 2017. The establishment of the association was announced on December 20 by a large event, attended by about 200 guests, held in Los Angeles. Along with members of the Azerbaijani community, members of the California State Senators, city mayors, city council members, diplomats, prominent scientists (including Nobel Prize laureate Arieh Warshel), heads of Jewish, Turkish, Pakistani, Iranian, South Korean, Vietnamese and Latino communities attended the event.[1]
The executive director of the organization is Kimiya Mammadova. The organization is financed by individual donations.[1]
