Calysto Communications is a public relations and social media marketing firm focused solely on the specialized needs of the communications technology industry in the broadcasting, mobile, and telecommunications sectors. The firm was named a "Top Tech Communicator" by PRSourceCode in 2007, 2008 and 2009,[2] and is an innovator in using a distributed workforce.
History[edit]
Calysto was founded by Laura Borgstede in 1999[1] to provide "strategic consulting to select clients" in the communications industry,[3] including telecommunications companies Internap, The Astonishing Tribe, Tellabs, the Telecommunications Industry Association, and Allot Communications.[4]
In 2007, Calysto expanded its operations and services to offer clients global support, and the agency has a local presence in more than 62 countries as of 2009.[5]
Business Model[edit]
Calysto specializes in providing integrated public relations services, using traditional PR tools as well as social media tools such as social networking websites to promote its clients.[6]
Calysto uses a distributed workforce model for its senior-level only associates, hiring from various local markets rather than concentrating the workforce at its Atlanta headquarters, a change that was implemented in 2007 to adapt to changing technological and business environments. The employees, including the CEO, work from any location using a software as a service server-based networking model to access files and connect to clients and other employees.[5]
