Camille Veronica Kostek[4] (born February 19, 1992) is an American on-camera host and model. A former NFL cheerleader for the New England Patriots (2013–14), she is known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.[5][6][7]
Early life[edit]
Kostek was born in Killingworth, Connecticut on February 19, 1992 to Alan, a contractor, and Christina a manager at World Gym.[8] She is the eldest of four siblings, and is of Polish, Irish and Jamaican descent.[5] She started taking ballet lessons when she was three years old, and continued her training at Broadway Dance Center in New York City.[5] After graduating at Haddam-Killingsworth High School as a lacrosse varsity captain,[9] she majored in Communication at Eastern Connecticut State University where she was a member of the dance squad, and was also on the Dean's List.[10][11][9]
Career[edit]
Professional cheerleading[edit]
Growing up, Kostek was a New York Giants fan but due to the team not having their professional cheer squad, she ended up training for the New England Patriots Cheerleaders instead.[12][13] In 2013, while in her junior year of college, she joined the roster and landed the cover of its Swimsuit Calendar.[5] In her last season for the team, she was one of the four cheerleaders who joined the NFL Tour in China, and performed at University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona for Super Bowl XLIX which the Patriots won.[14]
Hosting[edit]
In 2013, Kostek worked as an on-air anchor and writer for her university's network show TV22.[15][12] Since then, she has hosted for WPRI-TV's The Rhode Show, Boston's Dirty Water Media, SiriusXM, Barstool Sports, Spectrum Reach, as well as lifestyle, red carpet and sports events for Maxim and Sports Illustrated, among others.[16][17][18][19][20][21]
Modeling[edit]
After signing with her first modelling agency in Boston in 2015, Kostek became brand ambassador of Dune Jewellery, Equinox Fitness, and Benrus.[22][14][23][24] By the end of 2016, she moved to Los Angeles but found difficulty securing an agent as they kept telling her she was not tall enough or thin enough.[25][26] She then submitted a video of her experience to Sports Illustrated which was conducting an SI Model Search at the time.[27][28] Kostek then walked the SI Swim Week fashion show in Miami, and flew to Belize for her first SI Swimsuit photoshoot in 2017.[29][30][31] Kostek bested 5,000 aspirants and was named a winner of the show in Las Vegas on March 2018.[32][33] She was the first swimsuit model announced for the 2019 edition of the magazine.[34]
Kostek walked for friend Jessie James Decker's clothing line Kittennish at the 2018 New York Fashion Week.[35][36][37] The same year, she became a brand model for Reebok, and headlined its PureMove Bra campaign in February 2019.[38][39]
Recognition[edit]
In 2018, Connecticut Magazine named Kostek in their "40 under 40" list of influential people from the state of Connecticut.[40][41]
Personal life[edit]
Since 2015,[42] Kostek has been in a relationship with New England Patriots football player Rob Gronkowski.[6]
