Canary Technologies
Canary Technologies is a company that produces software for the hotel industry.
History
Canary Technologies was co-founded in 2017[1] by SJ Sawhney[2] and Harman Singh Narula, who serves as CEO of the company.[3] Canary Technologies raised $15 million[4] and then another $30 million in venture capital in 2022.[1] In 2024, Canary raised a $50 million Series C funding round led by Insight Partners.[5]
Software
Their guest management system includes mobile check-in and checkout, digital authorizations, upsells, and guest messaging[6] with AI replies from the Canary AI[7] system it developed in 2023.[8] Since 2023[2] the system also allows guests to tip hotel staff digitally,[9] which has been used by franchises including Marriott International,[10] IHG Hotels & Resorts,[11] and Real Hospitality Group.[12] A study done by Canary on hotel guests covered by CNBC showed that while 79% of hotel guests agree with tipping, complications with the use of cash caused only 30% to do so.[13]
In 2023 Canary worked with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to implement their new guest management system.[14][3] That year Canary was named #3[15] on Fast Company's list of the 50 Most Innovative Companies.[16] In 2023 Canary also partnered with Conferma Pay, a payment management company[17] used in part to replace other forms of payment information transferral such as fax.[18]
20,000 hoteliers have used the software,[15] including Preferred Hotels & Resorts,[6] Germain Hotels,[9] Curator Hotel & Resort Collection,[19] Drury Hotels,[16] Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Best Western, Rosewood Hotels, and Radisson Hotels.[20]
