Carlo Boccadoro (born on 20 July 1963)[1] is an Italian pianist, composer, conductor and musicologist.
Biography[edit]
He graduated in piano and percussion instruments. Boccadoro also studied jazz improvisation technique with maestro Giorgio Gaslini. He is credited as among the best known contemporary Italian composers.[2] He composes symphonic and chamber music, and writes music for theater and dance, collaborating regularly with Moni Ovadia. Alongside his activity as a musician, he also works as a musicologist. His writings have been published by EDT, Garzanti, Marcos y Marcos and Longanesi. He is among the founders, together with Filippo Del Corno and Angelo Miotto, of the Sentieri Selvaggi (lit. "Wild Paths") cultural project,[1] a contemporary music ensemble based in the Elfo Puccini theater in Milan, which has been on the international music scene for 14 years with several participations in the most prestigious Italian and foreign musical events. In 2018 he succeeded Jeffrey Swann in the role of Artistic Director of the Concerti della Normale di Pisa ("Concerts of the Normale di Pisa").
In 2007, he conducted Lorenzo Ferrero's Le piccole storie in its premiere at the Teatro Comunale Modena.[3] In 2019, he wrote a solo for John Corigliano.[4]
